US Soccer Development Academy - This league represents (arguably) the highest level of play for MA soccer players in the age groups of U-15 through U-18. Teams compete in a regional league against elite competition throughout the fall and spring seasons. The league has its own regional and national competitions separate from the State, Regional, and National tournaments of the USYSA. Competing teams include FC Greater Boston Bolts, and the New England Revolution.
Super Y League - Similar to the regional leagues of five or six years ago, this league is also a regional league with teams from MA competing at the age levels of U-13 through U-20. Massachusetts teams play in the New England region with league winners advancing to the State and sometimes Regional round of play within the USYSA Championship Series. Competing Teams include MPS Bulldogs and MPS Crusaders.
MAPLE - Massachusetts Premier League and most established club soccer league in the state. This is where almost every select club plays with enormous numbers of players and teams entering every year. Most age groups are separated into Division I, II, and III. The state tournament held at the end of the spring season is open to all teams (MAPLE and non-MAPLE) but is progressively harder to qualify for the lower Division the team comes from. State Tournament winners advance to the Region I Tournament.
MASC - Massachusetts Soccer Conference. This is a relatively new soccer league with age groups ranging from U-11 through U-14. The level of play in this league varies greatly based on age group, division, and club. I am not entirely sure how this league mixes with MAPLE.
ISL - Independent School League. This prep school league encompasses 16 teams from St. George's in Rhode Island to St. Paul's in New Hampshire. This is arguably the most competitive high school soccer league in the area. Due to the size and talent of the league most seasons are unpredictable, undecided until the final days of the season. Top league finishers play in the New England Tournament at the end of the season. Participating teams include: BBN, Belmont Hill, Brooks, Governor's Academy, Groton, Lawrence, Middlesex, Milton, Nobles, Rivers, Roxbury Latin, St. George's, St. Mark's, St. Paul's, St. Sebastian's, and Thayer.
